Demon Slayer is well known for its dark premise, featuring incredible action scenes, and for its very sad and depressing moments, but true fans know the series has plenty of comedy too. Tanjiro Kamado goes through rough times, and his journey is filled with a lot of emotions while fighting Muzan and the Twelve Moons, grief, pain, heartbreaking events, and some of the saddest deaths in anime. However, despite its dark themes, there are shining moments of comedic relief that lighten the heavy atmosphere and make the series less harsh for the viewers.

A majority of Demon Slayer's characters have been characterized by their humor, which is quite crazy at times, and the anime presents a series of silly situations to highlight the characteristics of the personalities of each member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

10 Tanjiro Being a Tooth Fairy's Assistant

Demon Slayer Season 3, Episode 1 - Episode 3.

In Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc episode 1, Genya is seen in the bath pulling out a tooth, and he ends up having quite a funny reunion with Tanjiro, who tries to bond with him, only for Genya to get angry and leave. However, Tanjiro decides on his would-be friend, and later in episode 3, he is forcibly attempting a friendly conversation in Genya’s room, who keeps rudely telling him to leave.

The funniest part is when Tanjiro asks him about his missing tooth, and Genya says that he must have imagined that he lost it, only for Tanjiro to deny it by pulling the tooth out of his pocket, revealing that he picked it up and had it there since they saw each other in the bath several days before. Genya tells him that he is creepy and should have thrown it away, but Tanjiro says that he intended to return it, prompting Genya to kick him out of his room.

9 Giyu Tying Up a Perplexed Inosuke

Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 19.

Inosuke always strives to be the best slayer by challenging those he considers strong adversaries, but that didn’t work too well for him on Mt. Natagumo. Inosuke was stunned by the strength displayed by Giyu when he killed Spider-Father, but his excitement was comically ignored by Giyu, who gave him a confused expression before turning to leave. Inosuke challenges Giyu to a duel and tells him that, since he has killed a Twelve Moon, by defeating him, he will become the strongest Demon Slayer. Giyu only tells him to go back to training, hilariously infuriating Inosuke.

Giyu unwinds a bundle of rope while telling Inosuke that Father wasn't a Twelve Moon, and suddenly Inosuke finds himself tied to a tree. Inosuke’s reaction is almost immediate, but it is already too late, and amazed by Giyu's speed, he just watches him as he walks away and leaves him hanging. Inosuke yells at him to come back and untie him, but Giyu leaves him there, and he later has to be untied by the Kakushis.

8 Tengen’s Premature Cremation

Demon Slayer Season 2, Episode 18.

When someone’s about to say their last words to the precious people in their life, it’s supposed to be a sad and touching moment, but that wasn’t the case for Tengen Uzui. Tengen was on the verge of death at the end of the Entertainment District Arc, but his wives were as flashy as ever, preventing him from having a sad goodbye. Suma cries so loudly that she drowns Tengen's attempts to speak, which deeply annoys Makio, who tries to stuff rocks in Suma's mouth to shut her.

The three wives keep discussing, and a baffled Uzui just stares at the situation, thinking that he will die before saying his last words. To his surprise, Nezuko just prances on over and sets him ablaze with her Blood Demon Art. Uzui's wives are horrified, and Suma amusingly reprimands Nezuko, telling her that it’s too soon to cremate him. Fortunately, Nezuko removed the poison, so Tengen will have another opportunity in the future to try to say his final words.

7 Gonpachiro Kamaboko

Inosuke Hashibira is one of the funniest characters in Demon Slayer. One of the running gags in the series is his inability to remember people’s names, so he always gives them hilarious nicknames. With Tanjiro, Inosuke always changes his name to funny combinations.

When the Slayer Trio follows the crow after the end of the fight in the Drum House Arc, Inosuke gets fond of Tanjiro and challenges him to a duel, calling him Gonpachiro Kamaboko.

Tanjiro gets angry and asks him who that is, and Inosuke tells him that’s his name, and the two start discussing, which causes Zenitsu to wake up and tell them both to shut up. Demon Slayer fans agree that Gonpachiro Kamaboko is the funniest nickname that Inosuke has called Tanjiro.

In episode 2 of the Entertainment District Arc, Uzui reveals to Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke that they will infiltrate the district to find his wife. Zenitsu misunderstands and thinks Uzui wants to find a bride to marry, and he gets utterly offended.

When Uzui tells them that he not only already has one wife but three, Zenitsu gets reminded of his unsuccessful love life and the fact that he can’t get himself a girlfriend, which gets him furious and causes him to scream so loudly that Uzui punches him to knock him out. The situation gets funnier when Inosuke tells Uzui that his wives are probably already dead, which angers Uzui, who also punches Inosuke.

5 When Inosuke Climbed to the Ceiling

Demon Slayer Season 3, Episode 1.

Tanjiro was unconscious for weeks, recovering from the injuries he suffered in the Entertainment District Arc fight. When he finally woke up, he was greeted by everyone in the Butterfly Mansion. Tanjiro asks what happened to Inosuke, and Aoi tells him that he was on the verge of death for a while due to being poisoned.

In a truly comical exchange, Tanjiro says that he must be imagining seeing Inosuke then, and everyone slowly looks up to find Inosuke stuck to the ceiling. The scene gets better by the fact that at the end of the episode, in the post-credits scenes known as "Secrets of the Taisho Era," it's revealed that Inosuke had climbed to the ceiling since the previous day and spent all that time whispering to Tanjiro to wake up, getting progressively angrier by doing so.

4 Inosuke Chipping the Efforts of a Swordsmith

Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 25.

Inosuke is the wildest character in Demon Slayer, and his nichirin dual swords with teeth-like blades reflect his wildness really well. Inosuke's swords broke during the fight on Mt. Natagumo. Afterward, his swordsmith, Kanamori, goes to the butterfly mansion to deliver him his brand-new swords. Kanamori is really proud of his work, telling Inosuke about how it was the first pair of dual swords he made.

However, Inosuke just walked outside and grabbed a stone to smash the swords, chipping the blades at several spots, much to Kanamori's horror, who had to be held back by Tanjiro. Tanjiro is then left with the responsibility to apologize to an offended Kanamori like a father does for his problematic child's mischievous behavior.

3 The Flashiest Introduction of the God of Festivals

Demon Slayer Season 2, Episode 9.

Tengen Uzui is a really offbeat character, and his introduction to the main trio was as flashy as expected, with him calling himself a “God” and referring to them as trash. The introduction of Uzui in its entirety is really absurd, and it is worth noting that the only one who finds it strange is Zenitsu, who is not really the most normal character in the series either.

When Tanjiro asked Tengen what kind of god he is exactly, he said that he is the “God of Festivals,” and Inosuke, feeling he found a kindred soul, also introduced himself as the “God of the Mountain,” but Tengen only gave him a perplexed expression and told him that he was really creepy, much to spark Inosuke’s rage.

2 Tanjiro’s Psychological Pressure on Giyuu

Demon Slayer Season 4, Episode 2.

In episode 2 of Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc, the sweet and innocent Tanjiro exhibits some really questionable behavior, trying to encourage Giyu to join Hashira Training. Tanjiro thought that Giyu needed company to cheer up, so he didn’t leave his side at all, pestering him to regain his fighting spirit and starting the most wholesome psychological pressure in anime. Tanjiro was at the window while Giyu was taking a bath, woke him up in the morning, ate together with him, accompanied him on patrol at night, and even waited for him right outside the bathroom.

The funniest part is that Tanjiro did all this while displaying a bright and comical expression. The highlight scene of the episode was Tanjiro’s train of thought which led him to conclude that what he needed to do was challenge Giyu to an eating contest, much to Giyu’s surprise, who ends up accepting and joining Hashira training thanks to Tanjiro.

1 All Haganezuka’s Rage Moments

It's hard to pick one scene of the irritated swordsmith in particular. Haganezuka has a rather angry temperament and is bad at dealing with people, which is, according to Kotetsu, the reason why he can’t find himself a wife despite his good looks. For Haganezuka, forging swords is his greatest obsession, and since he always breaks the swords he makes for him, Tanjiro has become deserving of his hatred.

Demon Slayer fans should always expect some aggressive behavior from Hotaru Haganezuka towards Tanjiro or an attempted murder in revenge for breaking the swords. Haganezuka even sent Tanjiro a threatening letter wishing for him to be cursed. Without a doubt, Haganezuka's scenes cause a lot of laughter and make him worthy of first place.
